For my final project at university I decided to make a game called, 'Runner Beats'. It's a solo project so all elements related to this game were created by me. Runner beats is a fusion of ‘Guitar Hero’ and ‘Subway Surfers’ where your aim is to guide the main character into collecting ‘sound orbs’ by hitting buttons to the que of the music, creating a sequence of movements and events on the track the character grinds on.


Player gains points by accurately matching timed cues as they appear on screen and completing key commends for special fighting moves.

During the creation of the game I documented my progress so far.

Working on a comic style entrance, that introduces the main character and shows some personality.



Ive also been working on the interface and how it looks and where to place the tap buttons yet still have a retro style feel to the game.

The core mechanics of the game have yet to be stablised but it is heading in teh right direction. 


Particles are now being emitted when you collect the coins.

With help from a coder, called Stephen fro the masters degree, we have got the player snapping to the lanes, and coins spawing to the music.

Based on Pre- Alpha feedback I tried to smooth out the transitions from left to right, I also made the orbs change colour. 


But I do have a few errors in my coding as the player falls out of the cameras focus and he also begins jittering and bouncing up...

Finally got the character moving, grovin and restricted to the tunnel.

The character can now move a set distance between strings, in the video he moves between in about 6-8 moves when i need it to move to the next string straight away.
